My journey into photography actually started long before weddings.
When I was around 13, my mum bought me my first camera because, like pretty much every kid my age, I wanted to become a YouTuber. I started making videos, taking photos of absolutely anything and everything, and somewhere along the way I realised I actually loved being behind the camera.
What started as a hobby quickly became something much bigger. I began experimenting with different styles of photography, learning how to use my camera and, most importantly, learning how to capture people and their emotions.
I went on to study photography at college and then university, where I focused heavily on portraiture, people and emotion. I became fascinated with the way a photograph can capture a feeling and take you straight back to a moment in time.
Then, around four years ago, I went to my aunt's wedding and that's where everything changed.
The photographer was extremely pushy and spent what felt like an eternity getting the “main” photographs. The day seemed to revolve around getting the perfect shot rather than letting the couple actually enjoy their wedding.
I remember watching it all happen and thinking:
“Surely wedding photography doesn't have to be like this?”
And honestly, that moment stuck with me.
I realised that if I ever photographed weddings, I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to create beautiful photographs and films without taking the wedding day away from the couple.
I wanted to be the photographer who knows when to step in and when to step back. The one who captures the important moments without making everything feel staged. The one who helps make the day easier, not more stressful.
And that's where Leo Tucker Photography & Films was born.
Today, I bring everything I've learned from photography, portraiture and filmmaking together to create wedding photographs and films that are natural, emotional and timeless.
And yes I'll still be your photographer, but I'll also be your extra bridesmaid, dress fluffer, button fixer, veil checker, emotional support and newest member of the wedding party.
Because at the end of the day, I don't want you to remember your wedding as a day where you spent hours having your photograph taken.
I want you to remember it as the best day of your life with photographs and films that let you relive it all over again.
